What are "Chances" and how are they calculated?

You may have noticed that most of our data is built around the number of chances created or allowed by a team.  We've used what we believe is soccers most useful stat as the baseline for quantifying Rocket League performance.

Full Chance: The moment before a shot is taken - an average professional Rocket League player finishes this chance 90%+ of the time

Half Chance: The moment before a shot is taken - an average professional Rocket League player finishes this chance 50%+ of the time

We take the time to break down each match and calculate the number of chances each team has created per game and with that we can use the number of actual goals scored to calculate the Goal Conversion rate.

Goal Conversion Rate: Number of Goals Scored / Number of Chances Created

It IS possible to have a GCR over 100% - in Out of Style's week 1 matchup vs NRG they scored a number of goals that were half chances at best.

The average GCR through week 2 is 71%.
